Today is only the beginning of a new venture

Today is only the beginning of a new venture and chapter in "the days of our lives". I have decided to start blogging about events and activities as I travel through this time people call "life". My family is very blessed but with two boys and a feisty wife things around my house is anything but boring.

Father's Day was amongst us last Sunday and it is was a Father's day that I will never forget and if I do, Amy will remind me very quickly. Amy and I decided to purchase a boat that could be used for fishing and skiing. This in itself has created a venture that we will talk about for years to come as my wife has only been in a boat a very limited number of times.

On Father's Day, we decided to take the boat out on Sardis so the boys can tube and I can learn more about how the boat handles. The prop we had on the boat caused us to look at the sky more than the water, but this is still a work in progress. The real story on Father's Day is when we were all the way on the other end of Sardis and I happen to look back towards the Dam only to notice the sky getting very dark and sand storms which quickly turned into the water white capping. Being that I have been in a storm on Sardis before, I knew what we were in for. I quickly told Amy that is was time to go home, and of course, Amy not being on the water very much was a little confused. WELL, lets just say that the confusion was quickly wiped away by jumping huge waves, almost dumping the boat over (thanks to a combination of a bad prop and high waves), and getting drenched. At one point the boat decided that it was time to leave the water and it jumped all the way out of the water causing a little panic in everyone. (Although, I don't think it helped when I looked at Amy and said, " YOU WOULD THINK WITH THIS TYPE OF WEATHER A PARK RANGER WOULD BE OUT HERE HELPING/WATCHING.".

Needless to say, after a long journey back to the boat dock my knuckles where white, Blake was hanging on Amy for dear life, and praying to God we made it back safely. With all of this said, I will not forget on Father's Day how I scared my whole family (including myself) to death and the day Amy has decided to never ride in a boat again (at least until I get the right prop and there is a negative 50% chance of rain)
